Monthly community update from CEREDIGION BCU Roads Policing Sgt Dave Hawksworth - July 2026 Hello everyone I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a quick round up of the work that your local Roads Policing Unit have been doing in your area, what's coming up and how we are working with partners to keep our roads safe for those living in, working and visiting Ceredigion. From what our communities have told us we have been focusing on: Speeding & Road Safety Concerns - A487 (Aberystwyth to Aberaeron) Speeding & Road Safety Concerns - Including Anti-Social Driving Issues - A482 (Aberaeron to Lampeter & Lampeter Town) Speeding & Road Safety Concerns - St Dogmaels / Cardigan / Crymych To effectively tackle these issues we have been working with: North Ceredigion Neighbourhood Policing & Prevention Team (NPPT)Mid Ceredigion Neighbourhood Policing & Prevention Team (NPPT)South Ceredigion Neighbourhood Policing & Prevention Team (NPPT)Ceredigion BCU Response Policing Team These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs. As a result we have: Conducted targeted patrols for around 160+ hours in these hotspot areas. Taken 6 vehicles off the road (Un-Insured or in a Dangerous Condition). Made 24 arrests for Drink & Drug Driving offences along with other arrests in respect of Drugs Supply & Possession.Dealt with 54 Road Traffic Offences under the (Fatal 5 - Drink / Drug Drive, Speeding, Mobile Phone Use. No Seatbelt) This coming month we will continue to target the issues affecting our communities by supporting the following: National Police Chief Council (NPCC) OPERATION SPOTLIGHT Road Safety Campagin (Fatal 5 Offences) Operation Topaz (targeting the illegal use of “Ghost Numberplates")Supporting the work of our Local Neighbourhood Policing and Prevention Teams across Ceredigion with Hi Vis Speed Enforcement. Upcoming events We are hard at work supporting the final planning stages for traffic management for the National Eisteddfod working with Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire Local Authorities and look forward to welcoming back the event to the south of the BCU.
